WTB - 1870 CC Seated Dollar in F12.

Looking for a nice, not genuine or details PCGS or NGC graded 1870 CC Seated Dollar. I can afford about a F12 graded coin. Let me know what you have.

Thanks,

Jared

  • Hello,

I have seen that coin a few times, it is a nice coin, and is about what I am looking for. The only thing that concerns me is the chop mark (not sure if that is what it is) on the reverse, near the rim. I'm not sure how this coin made it into a problem free holder, and doubt that it would be able to again. I could be wrong of course.

It is a planchet lamination or strike through, not damage. Definitely as made.

  • The mark on the reverse of this coin looks quite a bit like the obverse of an 1880 CC Morgan in this thread below. The Morgan in the thread below has several of these marks on the obverse, they are also wedge shaped. I'm not arguing with anyone here, just am curious what those marks really are. If it is a flaw that happened during minting, I assume that it does not hurt the value? In the case of the Morgan in the thread below, it is hard to believe that the coin left the mint with those marks on it.
